2018 Best Of Our Best

Honestly as I sit here and try to look back on this past year, I’m having a hard time even envisioning January. It feels like forever ago, it feels like we’ve come so far since then, it feels way too full for only twelve short months - but then again it was twelve pretty incredible short months.

We started the year with a shoot for Rocky Mountain Bride and accomplished a huge goal of making it in print. Seeing our work in a magazine, holding actual physical proof that we’re doing what we should be, was beyond humbling. We went from that straight into wedding season, starting with a dear childhood friend’s elopement in the snowy mountains of Colorado. A week later we were in sunny Moab for what is still our all time favorite day of shooting - Moab lives up to the hype and it gave us the most insanely beautiful day of our dreams. We left the desert for the city and shot the coolest old-hollywood-style wedding in St. Louis. We traveled to Cabo for our first international wedding and had the most fun we’ve ever had working. We shot another styled shoot with our friends at Wedfuly and it got published in Junebug Weddings - another huge accomplishment. We went to Yosemite for the first time and fell in love - we made the most amazing memories shooting an elopement and decided we could do exactly that every day for the rest of our lives. We shot a three day Indian wedding and wowza was it unbelievably cool to get to immerse ourselves in another culture at our job. We went to Park City for that cool Moab couple’s wedding and were gifted another insanely beautiful day of photos. We traveled to Kansas for our first same-sex wedding and decided that two brides are better than one. We shot engagement sessions all over our great state of Colorado - in front of mountain scapes and inside living rooms. We drank a lot of beer with clients. We shot a wedding in Boulder and got a rainbow during the ceremony. We shot another wedding in Golden and captured our second doggy witness signing a marriage license. We got to go back to the St. Vrain, where our Rocky Mountain Bride shoot took place, to finally shoot a wedding at our favorite venue. We went back to Yosemite for a badass adventure engagement session, and somehow fell even harder in love with it’s magic. We got the moody weather wedding of our dreams in October at Devils Thumb Ranch. We helped pull off an elopement at Rocky Mountain National Park as snow poured down. We spent a weekend in Aspen and shot two killer sunrise sessions at Maroon Bells - one with long time close friends and another with a couple that quickly became close friends. We shot the hippest wedding ever for two graphic designers at an art gallery. We closed out the year by signing our first marriage license as witnesses, at the absolute greatest elopement, in the place Nick and I had our first kiss - a perfect full circle moment to end on.

More personally, this was a big year for me and Nick. It was our second year as a business and it was a big one. Nick still works a full time job, but this was the year I made this job my full time career. We learned to balance all of that and we found our groove. We pushed ourselves and each other and grew in some biiiiig ways. We put more faith and investment and effort into our business than ever. We took chances, and through hard work, most of them paid off. We traveled a ton. We shot a ton. We edited more photos than I want to go back and try to count. We got into climbing and grew in that. We decided what’s important. We made new friends and learned to let others go. We celebrated our four year anniversary and we made some biiiig goals. We felt thankful, thankful, thankful.

I’m having a hard time wrapping this up because it feels so unfinished, which it is. This year was incredible but it is only the very beginning of our story - stay tuned for more <3
